Plan a trip to Paris
WALT plan a trip to Paris
-
How your group will travel to France and Paris. Flying Emirates from AKL to Paris return per adult is $2,991. The trip there will take 27 hours and the return flight will take 25 hours 55 mins. There is one stopover which is the country we stop in on the way to Paris, France and that is Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
-
How you will be travelling around France and Paris – trying to be sustainable. The best way to get around Paris is on foot, which is walking and on the metro which is their public train transport. These are two very sustainable options and they are cheap too!
-
Where you will stay. You may need to stay in a range of different places, so consider a variety of options and prices. An AirBNB for 1 week for 2 adults is $1,062 nzd in total. Expedia website, 7 nights at the Sonder Le Frochot hotel for two adults is $1576 nzd.
-
The costs of entry to the sporting event. $227nzd per person.
-
Visits to at least THREE Paris tourist icons. Eiffel tower to the top with lift access $63.57nzd per person. The Lourve museum $30nzd per person. Disneyland Paris $216nzd per person with travel to the park.
-
Spending money, converted into New Zealand dollars. Website budgetyourtrip.com recommends 77 euro per day which is around $140nzd per person per day so for two weeks the total would be $1960.
Total for travel, accommodation, three tourist icons, entry to the swimming and spending money is approx $7300 per person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think that,s a lot of money ?
Do you want to plan a trip to Paris ?

In small groups, discuss the following:
1. Which food item is probably the healthiest food and why?
Duck confit because it isn’t fried.
Breton Buckwheat Pancakes
2. Which food item would be the best item to have on a celebration menu after winning a gold medal at the Olympics and why?
Croque-Monsieur because if you’re really hungry you can have a fried egg on top.
3. Which food item is the one you would most like to try and why?
I would want to try the Croque-Monsieur because I love grilled ham and cheese toasties.
In your groups, find recipes for three food items and work out how much it would cost to make these for your own families.
